There is a lot to consider when choosing the right pair of marine binoculars. The first and most logical consideration is waterproofing. Although this feature costs significantly more, it is definitely worthwhile; your investment could easily slip overboard and be rendered useless. Another factor is lens size within the marine binoculars. It is usually a good idea to start at about 8x optics magnification and work backwards. Anything more than that will be difficult to discern in the waves and wake. A few other things to look into are lens coating, an inbuilt compass, and focus controls.
When choosing the proper seafaring tool, don’t be hasty. There are plenty of worthy marine binoculars, and plenty of time to sift through them.
